I am sad to share the news that my mother, Kazue Shinkawa, passed away on August 10, 2024. She was 95 years old.
Please accept my apologies for this late announcement. Per my mother’s request, attendance for the funeral service was limited to family members only.
A week before her passing, my mother reported chest pain, and was taken to the hospital. She had an acute myocardial infarction. My mother, in a conscious state, asked the doctors to cease their efforts to prolong her life, but I persuaded her to stay with us. She agreed to a catheterization, and as a result was able to see her family members again.
When I visited her the next day, she had much better complexion, and even joked with her grandchildren. We were all relieved. However, her doctor informed us that they could not perform a cardiac massage if she had another seizure, due to her advanced age.
That evening, my mother suffered from repeated accidental deglutition. Her heartbeat gradually weakened, and she never returned home.
She passed away at 11pm on August 10, at the age of 95.
She lived out her life and passed away peacefully.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude for the support we received throughout her life, and kindly ask for your continued thoughts and prayers for my mother.
